The Seventy Ninth Group Sponsor Professional Boxer Peter McGrail

As part of our ongoing support of British athletes, The Seventy Ninth Group, will sponsor former Olympian and European Championships gold medalist, Peter McGrail (28), in his fight against Rhys Edwards (21) on the 21st of December 2024 at Kingdon Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The fight is on the undercard of what will be one of the biggest nights of boxing this year. Top billing on the night will be the rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, for the Ring Heavyweight, WBO World Heavyweight, WBC World Heavyweight and WBA Super World Heavyweight championship.

McGrail will be fighting out of the Everton Red Triangle Boxing Club, where he first began to box as a child with his brother, Joe. McGrail is represented by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing.

Natalie Bellis, CEO, Seventy Ninth Group, said:

Peter has dedicated his life to boxing and made it all the way to the top, a lad boxing out of Everton who’s now fighting for a title on the world stage. It’s a privilege to be able to support Peter at this stage of his journey and acknowledge everything he has already achieved. We see this as an investment in one of tomorrow’s leaders, we wish Peter the best of luck in Riyadh, and we’ll be supporting him all the way.”

The fight will be one of the highlights of a stacked undercard, which will see British heavyweights Johnny Fisher and David Allen compete. The event will also showcase Israil Madrimov and Serhii Bohachuk’s fight, Moses Itauma and Demsey McKean’s duel, and British fighters Isaac Lowe and Lee McGregor’s contest.

McGrail will make his way to the ring with a record of 10 wins, 1 loss and 0 draws, with 6 of those wins by knockout. Edwards steps into the ring with an undefeated record of 16 wins, 4 of those coming by knockout.

McGrail is currently ranked number 12 by the WBA in the 122lb division. The bout will be streamed live from the Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on the DAZN platform on the 21st of December, with the walkout for the bout expected at around 8pm GMT/UTC in the UK/Europe.
