The 79th Group’s Big Festive Quiz Of The Year

On Wednesday 1st December, the 79th Group descended on The Spitfire pub in Ainsdale to host the first-ever Big Festive Quiz of the Year.

Social Media & Events Manager Phil Hayton organised the event to raise vital funds for Claire House Children’s Hospice is a wonderful charity that we hold dear to our hearts.

With a full house and festive spirit in full swing, we raised an amazing £1,500 for the charity and presented Claire House Partnerships Manager Josh Worral with the cheque the next day!

What Is Claire House Children’s Hospice?

The charity helps terminally ill children and their families create magical memories whilst receiving specialist nursing care in their Merseyside hospices.

Supporting over 400 families with nurses, physiotherapists, play specialists, counsellors and doctors, the charity adds a sense of normality at an incredibly distressing time. Children can enjoy a multi-sensory room, art room, hydrotherapy pool and jacuzzi, whilst the residents who are over 18 can enjoy a drink in the bar.

Unfortunately, the hospice cannot care for every child who needs their help, hence why we are so passionate about fundraising.

  • £7.90 could pay for a cup of tea, homemade shortbread and support from a bereavement specialist
  • £79 could fund the cost of two counselling sessions for a sibling who has lost their brother or sister
  • £790 could pay for a week of support in the Butterfly Suite (end of life rooms) OR three whole days of a specialist nurse’s 1 2 1 care
